Weather permitting, we will be performing a major upgrade to our wireless controller early Friday morning (February 21st). The wireless system will be down for about 15 minutes when we perform this upgrade, which will likely take place at about 7:00 AM. After the upgrade is complete, we will be testing the new implementation intensively until about 9:00 AM. Wireless will be available during this time, but there is the possibility that service will be disrupted for short periods between 7:00 and 9:00.
This system upgrade to Meru’s System Director 6 is designed to improve overall wireless performance, and to allow new features such as iPad printing and screen mirroring by creating features for better managing Apple’s Bonjour service. After we finish testing, and after we have a chance to see how the new system performs under a full traffic load with students present on Monday, we will be able to confirm any significant changes, such as the addition of these new features.
In the event of a cancellation or delay due to weather on Friday, we will keep you updated about any changes to the wireless upgrade plans.
