The district has received 11 MimioVote classroom response clicker sets, and I’d like to share with all ADM faculty the information you’ll need to obtain one of the sets for your classroom, if you’re interested.
What is a MimioVote classroom response clicker set?
It is a set of response clickers that allow students to wirelessly respond to yes/no and multiple choice questions. Check out a short video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs7Lvcu27xc or the product website here: http://www.mimio.com/en-NA/Products/MimioVote-Assessment.aspx for more information.
Sounds awesome! How do I get one?
Anybody who is interested in obtaining a MimioVote set will need to attend a short (30
minute) MimioVote introductory session on either Tuesday, April 16th after school or Friday, April 19th before school in the District Board Room. After attending the introductory session, which will cover the basics of how the MimioVote works and what it can be used for, you’ll need to fill out a short application form (to be distributed online to session attendees). The applications will be reviewed by a technology committee group, and will be used to allocate the district’s MimioVote sets to the best possible areas.
Am I guaranteed to get one if I attend a session and fill out the application form?
There is no guarantee that all applicants will get a MimioVote set. We will distribute all 11, but if there are more than 11 applicants, we will not be acquiring more in the immediate future. That said, if there is significant demand beyond the 11 sets that we have, acquiring more in coming years will be a higher priority.
My whole department wants one (or more) MimioVote sets; can we apply as a department?
Yes! At least one representative of the department must attend one of the sessions and will be responsible for filling out the application, but you can indicate on the application that it would be a shared set for the department. Further, you can request multiple sets for your department, though as mentioned above, there is no guarantee regarding how many you will receive.
What if I can’t attend one of the sessions but really want a MimioVote?
If there is absolutely no way that you can attend one of the sessions, due to practices, classes, or other commitments, you can apply as a department and have another department member attend. If that is not possible, please let me know and we’ll work something out.
When will a decision be made about who gets the MimioVote sets?
Applications will be due by April 24th, and a decision will be made about their distribution by April 26th.
You’ll receive your MimioVote set during the week of April 30th, and a training session will be offered during that week as well (date TBA). When will we get the MimioVote sets?
Are there other teachers in the district already using MimioVote sets?
Yes! We had a similar application/distribution process last spring, and several teachers are already making use of them in the buildings. Please contact me to find out if anybody in your building or area is using a MimioVote set already.
If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
